There is Nothing More Powerful Than Taking Action
(And Universities Understand This Better Than Anyone!)

A study was done that correlates community service with academic success; students who maintain a weekly community service record, 85% of the time, are more likely to succeed and have a higher grade point average than those who do none at all.

Making the Right Choices
On our path through life, we are constantly making choices. Every choice that we make will have a positive result or a negative result. The decisions that you make at your age will shape the rest of your life forever. When you make the choice to learn REAL leadership by taking action in your community, there can only be one type of results - REMARKABLY POSITIVE RESULTS!

Getting Into College
Did you know that on your college application you will be asked what community service you are involved in? Wouldn't it be great to attach a Project Portfolio to your college application that will move your name to the top of the list of applicants. Your leadership experience and professional presentation of your project portfolio will be extremely impressive to any university across the country.

Leadership is Learned
Leaders are not born, they are created through experiences, opportunities, and overcoming adversity. Whether you already exhibit leadership qualities, or you feel like you have no leadership traits at all, you CAN become a leader.  Your journey towards leadership starts with a community project and your project portfolio.

Learning Skills For The Rest Of Your Life
Completing community action leadership projects at your age is impressive, especially when you are influencing others around you to help. You will learn Leadership skills through your PBLT training that will help you through High School and beyond.

Through the NLT, You will complete a project that is important to you.
Do you care about animals, the environment, political issues, peace, world awareness…etc? Your projects can range from many different types and topics and should not only be important to you but be fun and educational too.

Include your friends!
As an act of leadership, you won't be completing these projects alone. Ask your friends and family to help you accomplish your goals.

Start Small and Grow
Your initial project can be something small. An example would be finding 10 friends to perform 10 acts of kindness each. That equals 100 acts of kindness! Or another example would be to find 10 friends to help you pick up trash along the side of the road (with parents help of course). Your project doesn't have to be huge, every little bit counts! Begin to build your Project Portfolio with small projects, build success, and then grow your projects as you get older.

Large Scale Projects
Once you've successfully completed a handful of smaller projects, you can start tackling a larger project that includes more people and will help a bigger cause. As a teenager, you are old enough to inspire others around you too take action along side you. Turn that energy into ACTION in your community and watch your Leadership Skills develop through inspiring others to WANT to help you in your projects.

Rules...(or Guidelines) For You To Engage In A PBLT Project
  1. Every project must require the participant to involve one or more people in the endeavor.
  2. Every project must require some kind of benefit to something or someone in the community.
  3. Ideally, each project is chosen by the participant, the exception being projects that require several students and/or projects organized by the group leader.
  4. The initial project shouldn’t be a complicated one –and ought to involve no more than an hour or two of work (1-2 months for the first project and shouldn't take any more than 3-4 months between projects after that).
  5. Every project is to be documented in your NLT team's Project Portfolio.

"Since starting my Leadership  [NLT] Journey, I've gained a new self image though goal setting, personal development, and body re-shaping and lost 50lbs. "

"Clara's experience with the Leadership Quest Program has been very positive. Although we can see some very positive changes in many ways, there was one incident that spoke volumes to us; we had spoken to Clara's current teacher during open house and she was telling us how much Clara participates in class and raises her hand all the time. Until she set that goal, every teacher prior had told us how quiet and reserved she was!"

- Tami Schroeder
(Clara's Mother)

"...Its been amazing to watch our youngest daughter transform from a shy 5 year-old to a confident 9 year old. She has experienced the satisfaction that comes with overcoming one's fears to achieve your goals.
We have also witnessed a remarkable level of focus and determination in our older daughter. She has become goal oriented and has worked very hard for her multiple achievements...
We are very pleased with the [NLT] Leadership Program. Not only does Mr. Engels teach the skills needed to advance in martial arts, through this website and this program, he is helping to mold our children into responsible citizens. His leadership program focuses on the development of positive character traits through lessons involving goal-setting and community service projects... The Leadership Program comes highly recommended by all members of the Raykovich family!"
